Will not be winning Mother of the Year....

anytime soon.
Yesterday I set Sean in the middle of our king size bed thinking he couldn't crawl that far yet and jumped in the shower. Needless to say I heard a thud and realized he had crawled right off the edge onto the floor. He wasn't happy, but no visible damage that I could see.

Today I walked out to our laundry room (yes it is outside) and didn't unlock the door and locked myself out of the house leaving Sean napping in his crib. Thankfully, I had my cell phone in my pocket and my friend Nancy has a spare key to our house (she uses it as her vacation home when we go out of town). I called her house to find her daughter Hillary home and she was able to come let me in. I found Sean awake in his crib patiently waiting for someone to come get him. Good thing he had no idea what was going on. Thanks Hillary for rescuing Sean.

I am sure there will be many more happenings like these over the next few years. I can remember many dumb things I did while Andrew was young and he has survived so far. Keep your fingers crossed that Sean makes it to a year old.

Andrew's Fictional Writing

This just makes me smile. No one's mind is more fun than that of a 7 year old boy. Here is a copy of a paper he wrote in class.

Best Weekend Ever!

Tom and I usually say it was the "best weekend ever," when we do something with out the other just to rub it in. This past weekend, Tom stayed in Pacifica to work while the kids and I headed to Hanford to see my brother Jeremy receive Teacher of the Year for Kings County. While in Hanford we did some of our favorite things, eat Superior Dairy Ice Cream, swim, cruise by some garage sales, and ate strawberry shortcake. Of course we also loved hanging out with family. Our trips there are always too short but we are glad it's only a 3 1/2 hour drive so we can go again soon.
Here are all the kids cheering Jeremy on. When our family gets together with all the kids, we bring our own party. We made quite the cheering section for Jeremy. The sign says We love Mr. Scholz, not We love Mrs Chol.
Yummiest ice cream ever. See those servings, that is 1 scoop. This trip we managed to bring some ice cream home on dry ice to share with Tom.

Not Always Happy

Someone told me the other day, "Sean is always smiling and happy, you are so lucky." This made me giggle inside because yes Sean is usually happy, but the last 6 weeks have not all been smiles and giggles. Sean is teething, had a cold, allergies, eczema, who knows? What I do know, is that whatever has been bothering him, has created a baby that refuses to sleep. Naps have been reduced to 20-40 minutes at a time, and at night he only goes about 2-3 hours before waking in tears. I am so sleep deprived I called a client twice last week within 10 minutes to ask the same question. I also placed an order with a factory twice because I forgot I already emailed it. To cope, Motrin and Tylenol have been flowing freely in our house and I think we are just about through it. This is a good thing since Tom and I are walking zombies. Sean has slept much better the last 2 days, but I am sure I just jinxed it by posting this. Wish us luck.

When the offshore winds blow...

the temperatures rise, and the only thing to do is go to the beach.
I picked the kids up from school today and decided piano, homework and my phone calls could wait. The best part is that these heat waves are short lived. We hit the beach on the first day before the rest of the peninsula finds out the beaches are warm, and we beat the crowds. The weather was perfect, the crowds were non existent but of course the water was still cold. It was a great day.

A Fun Request

I entered Sean's picture in a contest with Parents.com to be on the cover of their magazine. I know, sorta silly, but I though why not? There is a hefty scholarship awarded for the winner.

Take a second, go to this link, and give him 5 stars please. Thanks!

Bath Time

It's my favorite time of the day and I am pretty sure it is Sean's as well.

Happy Easter!

From our house to yours.
We had a full weekend with my brother and his family. They came on Thursday and just left today. We partied like the best of them with a trip to the Academy of Science, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, at 6am on Saturday, and then topped it off with an Easter Egg Hunt. We love to have a full house and are always sad when company leaves.
You read that right, we were up at 6am on Saturday. The tide pools are only fun when you go at a minus tide. On Saturday, it was a minus tide at 6:30am. We woke the kids up, layered the clothing and hung out with the seal pups on the beach. It was cold, and the little kids only last about 20 minutes but the rest had a great time finding all sorts of things in the pools.
The kids ready for the egg hunt.

Oh No!

He is on all fours, and I have yet to baby proof this house. We will see how long my white silk drapes stay white.

Meet the Lady in our Bathroom

We got a package deal when we bought our house. Not only did we get a big old house on the highway, but we also got a naked lady that hangs out in our bathroom. If you haven't come for a visit then you are missing out. You never shower alone in this bathroom and many have really enjoyed her company. My brother Jared on his visit dressed her with tassels and I find myself talking to her when I am in there bathing Sean.

I know there will come a day when she will have to go. That has been the plan all along, but for now, I have grown to accept and love her. If you want to come meet her feel free, just bring your own towel and enough soap for two.

I love the Sun!

Being in Pacifica, I appreciate the sun more then ever. I love the afternoons when the sun is shining in the house and could sit in the warmth for hours, or at least until Tom gets home and shuts the curtains. Heaven forbid the temperature get over 76 degrees in our house.
