Band Season

This past weekend was the kick off to Band Season in our house. This means that Kira will be away most Saturdays until Christmas and at practice after school 3 days a week. She is one busy girl.

They marched in the Fog Fest parade this last weekend. We love this since it is walking distance from our house. We get to go watch her in the parade and then hang out and watch the over weight belly dancers, and half naked mermaid on the back of an old car. I will spare you those pictures and stick with the one I got of Kira. I love this sometimes "ghetto" town we live in.

If you look closely you can see we got her to smile.

Sean Loves Andrew,

so much that he wants to play with everything that Andrew plays with, while wearing the clothes that Andrew wears. While Andrew was at school, Sean came out of Andrew's room wearing Andrew shoes and hat, and shooting Andrew's Nerf gun.
He is constant entertainment.

Happy Birthday Sean!

Today he is 2.

His favorite gift was Buzz Lightyear and realizing he was in the box.
The hardest part was waiting for Dad to figure out how to get him out of the box.
Life for Sean is pretty complete now that Buzz Lightyear has entered his life. This one is his so he doesn't have to keep stealing Andrews.

Crossing the Bridge

Tom took this picture of the Bay Bridge this weekend and it got me thinking. When I first moved to the Peninsula here in the Bay Area I met quite a few people who always refused to leave the Peninsula. Many who refused to cross this bridge and many who were quite content staying in their immediate areas. I used to laugh at those people and now, I have to admit, I have become one of those people. I hate this bridge, I hate crossing it and I hate crossing any bridge around here for that matter. For some reason anything on the other side is equal to a third world country that I don't really want any part of. I am sorry to my friends who have moved out in the "boonies" I adore you and think of you often, I just don't want to come for a visit.

I will cross it to go to the temple but I am always quick to return. I can't really explain why, I just love my little town of Pacifica and I am quite content just staying on this side of the Bay.

Go Giants!

No they didn't win on Friday night, in fact they didn't even score a run but Tom and Andrew got to enjoy the game with Merrill and William. It was free shirt night and they walked away with free bright orange shirts that Andrew refuses to take off. It was a fun night and allowed for Kira and I to have a girls movie night at home (once we got Sean to sleep). Thanks Merrill for the tickets, they had a blast.

I Guess I am Inspiring

I am glad someone is learning from my silly miss-haps. My brother-in-law Brad wrote a great article for the Santa Ynez Valley Journal after reading about my "fertilizing."

Thanks for sharing Brad. I enjoyed the article.

"Mr. Destructo"

It is only 10:30 and so far this kid has completely emptied out my desk drawers all over the floor, turned off my computer twice, then helped himself to a bag of cereal in which he dumped on the carpet and stomped on them, and then proceeded to put cereal into my printer. It must be time to go outside.
If this kid wasn't so cute I would probably consider trading him in for a sweet girl.

Not My Proudest Moment

5 months ago I bought some Miracle Grow fertilizer which promised to help my plants grow twice as big, twice as fast. Having big dreams to have a green thumb, I have been using it every week hoping the results will be as promised. Today while using it I began to be impressed that it has lasted me so long so I looked at the jar to see how long it should last. While looking I realized there were instructions on the side that I had never bothered to read. Apparently the clear jar is supposed to fill up with water and mine never has. Getting suspicious I unscrewed the jar from the spout and found there is a removable clear sealer that should have been removed. For 5 months when I thought I had been fertilizing I have actually just been watering.

I have never claimed to be one of the smarter ones on this planet but I think I have reached an all time low at this point.

Jade's Favorite Things #5

Pacifica's Indian Summers
It is my favorite time of the year in Pacifica (yes it is better then Christmas). The weather warms up, the fog stays away and we spend most of our evenings at the beach. We count down the minutes until Tom gets home from work, eat really fast, then off we go. Even the recent Shark sightings can't keep us away.

I keep telling people, visit us in September-October. Don't come in July.

Sean's Best Friend

Is that man in the mirror. Today he was teaching him is name.

The most annoying...

is a toddler that helps himself to the refrigerator. Time for a lock on the fridge.
