Tom took this picture of the Bay Bridge this weekend and it got me thinking. When I first moved to the Peninsula here in the Bay Area I met quite a few people who always refused to leave the Peninsula. Many who refused to cross this bridge and many who were quite content staying in their immediate areas. I used to laugh at those people and now, I have to admit, I have become one of those people. I hate this bridge, I hate crossing it and I hate crossing any bridge around here for that matter. For some reason anything on the other side is equal to a third world country that I don't really want any part of. I am sorry to my friends who have moved out in the "boonies" I adore you and think of you often, I just don't want to come for a visit.
I will cross it to go to the temple but I am always quick to return. I can't really explain why, I just love my little town of Pacifica and I am quite content just staying on this side of the Bay.

Hater!!!
I love that bridge!!!
Third world. I'm so offended. Just teasing. Sometimes I feel like we live a million miles away too. But, it's really only 1 hour. It goes by super fast. Come for a visit. You'll love it. I promise!!!
Now that you mention it, I may feel like that, too. I will happily drive to San Jose, but go across a bridge? That is like another world!
Interesting how a bridge can make a difference. In thinking about it,though, maybe you're feeling like I do when I drive over the San Marcos Pass to Santa Barbara. One technician in a doctor's office asked me if I was from the "Valley". I asked her how she knew. She said, "Almost everyone who comes in here wearing jeans is from the valley." There you go - another world.
I am one those people that do not like crossing bridges...I did for Temple pageant years ago but that's it...
