Andrew Enters the Double Digits - Bring on 10.

It's hard to believe 10 years ago I gave birth to this guy. He arrived 2 weeks early after my water broke in the middle of the night.  I used to think it was the sushi I ate the night before, but I have since learned his personality is a lot like mine.  He was just ready to take on the world, even as an infant, and there was no need to wait those extra 2 weeks.  He came out quiet, with his eyes wide open.  I remember staring at his enormous eyes looking right at me and feeling like I had an old soul, or an alien.

This year his requests were pretty simple. He wanted to be sung to by his cousins during the Porter reunion, and see the new Harry Potter. There was also a request for cash, which I have yet to pay up.  I have a feeling a $20.00 will not do anymore.

Anyways, Happy Birthday Andrew!

We love you, and our family wouldn't be the same without you.

Don't Touch My Face!

We had just finished a fun filled week with the Porter family reunion (blog on that later) and Sean felt we needed a little more excitement. Last night while getting out of the tub, he slipped and hit his head on the tub. We headed off to the ER where he started out being brave, and told the doctor, in a very grown up way, what happened and where it hurt. It was when they attempted a CT scan that sent the trip down hill. We bailed on the scan, like he is really going to hold still for that. It then took 6 people to hold him down for the 4 stitches. I think it needed more like 6, but 4 will have to do. Let's just pray it doesn't scar.

I will never forget the angry yelling and screaming. If he knew how to swear I am sure he would have. My favorite was, "I am done, don't touch my face!"
This was taken this morning.  Pretty swollen today but I am sure it will heal quickly.

Garage, Complete!

I love checking off a to-do, that is on our LONG to-do list for this old house.  The garage is now one less thing to worry about, and we can take a breather before tackling the next project.  This one was finished just in time.  Sunday our house will be packed with Porter's and I may just have them all sleep in the garage, now that it is so nice. (I am kidding, really.)
My favorite part.  Newly painted railings you pass on the way to the garage.  Nothing like new paint.
New white roof.  Look so clean.

My Handy, Smart Andrew

While I enjoy the bargain shopping at Ikea, I don't enjoy the fact that you have to assemble everything you buy.
After a recent purchase of bookshelves, I have discovered I have a son that is quite capable of assembling just about anything you throw at him.  He proved it with these 4 book shelves.
Knowing that I have such a handy kid around the house, I just might consider more shopping at Ikea.
Now I am off to find his Weblos book, this has to count for something.

A Great Find!

It has been foggy and cold here this past week so the boys and I set out to find some fun in the sun.  We were acting on a tip from our friends the Larsen's, and went to the public pool in Morgan Hill.  Yes it was an hour drive, but as Andrew and his friend Luke put it, "worth every minute in the car."  This place is way more then a public pool, it is a mini water park and unbelievably only $7.00 to get in.  I still can't believe it.  There are two water slides, two kid play areas (one you run through and one that never gets over 1.5' deep), and two pools (one with diving boards).
This is Andrew headed to the water slides.
Here is Sean running in one of the kid play areas.

To my sister in law Jennifer - if you are reading this, we should meet up in Morgan Hill and spend a day.
For those wanting more info on the place, go here.

Finished Trim

Finished last night and I have to say I am impressed with myself, and I even sorta like the tile now.  I might consider a career change, or at least doing the rest of the trim through out our basement.

Seriously...

This is the most obnoxious.
I keep finding Sean on top of the counters helping himself to what ever he can find.  He already has full access to the fridge, and I thought I was ok with the high cupboards.  I guess not anymore.

I think I have lost all control with this kid.
