A Fun Day at Lake Shasta

It started with a drive to Shasta Lake, a boat ride across the lake, a short bus ride up a mountain and then a hour tour in a really cool cave. We learned about stalagmites, stalactites, cave bacon, cave drapery and other terms I can't remember. I am sure if Tom was writing this there would be more of a scientific explanation. Either way it was amazing to see and way fun.
The boat ride across the lake.
Way in the back is a crystal chandelier. Very beautiful, but hard to see in this picture.
Kira and Andrew by a stalactite.Walking through the cave.
The Cathedral Room, this was the grand finale and absolutely amazing.

A Train Ride

We spent some time at the Zoo on Saturday and Sean had his first train ride. As you can see he is really not sure what we are doing, but once it got started he really had a fun time.
We are all really enjoying all the first's with Sean. The kids are re-discovering all the fun things that they seemed to have gotten tired of until Sean came around.

Feminism Instilled Early On

Those of you might not know that I graduated from Stephen College, a women's college in the mid-west. While there I made some life long friends and one, named Brenda, for many years helped me celebrate Women's Appreciation Month, in March, by sending me "Chick CD's." Brenda has since stopped the tradition (which makes me sad) but I still have all the CD's.
Recently I have taken road trips with the kids minus Tom, and I pulled out these CD's for entertainment. Kira fell in love, and has now taken ownership of them. Andrew found them to be a little abnoxious, but I feel like with Kira I was able to share just a little of what my college days were like.

It makes me smile to hear her singing, "I am woman hear me roar in numbers too big to ignore, and I know to much to go back and pretend...." I think we need more trips minus the boys just so I can share a little more.

Thanks Brenda for all the CD's and for giving me something to share with Kira. How about moving on to playlists at iTunes?

A Welcome from the Boys Scouts

Andrew is officially a cub scout.

Not Walking Yet,

but he is climbing. Especially when there is a prize at the top like a box of Cheez-It's.

A Shared Birthday

This last weekend was pretty much all about Andrew turning 8, and his Baptism. Thankfully we found a few short moments to celebrate mine and my dad's Birthday's. My birthday was Aug 3 and my Dad's is Aug 4. I have always loved celebrating my birthday with my Dad. Along with both being left handed, close birthday's have always been a special connections we have had. Good food, good family, good laughs, and yummy cakes from Mazetti's. It was a good day.

A Good Choice

Today Andrew was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Tom baptized him, and our family and friends were all able to attend. This just added to my disbelief that he is growing up faster then I would like, but I love the kid he has become.
