From what I can tell, Tom has shoes for the following:
- basketball shoes
- hiking shoes
- bike riding shoes
- golf shoes
- beach shoes
- church shoes (a couple pair)
- work shoes (a couple pair)
- shoes for working on the roof
- shoes for working in the yard (yes they are different then the roof shoes)
- shoes for "going out"
This habit is spilling over to the kids, and their piles are getting larger and larger as well. I have a feeling there is no end to the madness. Sean has yet to start wearing shoes but he already has 4 pair waiting for him.
Not only do we have our own families shoes, but there are few pair of shoes lingering that belong to someone who left them here. If you are missing shoes, let me know. For those of you planning a visit, be prepared to enter cautiously and please don't forget your shoes.

Yeah, I can relate, we have a shoe thing in our huse as well, though I've tried to corral it lately .even after I've cut down on mine i hyave the fiollowing:
1. Workout/Running shoes
2. Bike shoes (they have a metal cleat for the pedals)
3. Sandals
4. Black Dress Shoes
5. Brown Dress Shoes
6. Soccer Cleats (for when I help out my daughters at soccer)
7. Hiking Boots
8. All purpose work shoes (painting, yardwork, etc.)
9. Casual shoes (yep, for going out)
Granted I keep most of mine in a closet, but I realize I'm not too far behind Tom... and that's not counting my four pairs of snowboard boots (LOL!).
Have you considered a cubby setup like they have at Ikea? It blends a bit with the decore and it at least gets the shoes in one place :).
