I got a new miter saw and a nail gun with compressor, and then started attacking the trim downstairs. I couldn't wrap my brain around the expense of replacing the tile so I have decided that new trim will make it look better. So far I haven't caused any major damage I can't fix, and I have learned these two lessons.
1st -Don't buy trim boards that are too long to fit in your car. I realized this AFTER buying all the wood from Home Depot and rolling it out to the parking lot. Thanks to Darrel Draper for rescuing me and my trim, and being willing to keep my air-headed error from Tom.
2nd -When you send Andrew (my nine year old) out to the garage to cut up all the random left over pieces, go with him and make sure he knows which pieces are the left over ones, and which ones are the brand new ones. I lost a good 8ft. piece before I got to the garage to inspect his work.
So far the new trim is making the floor look great and I am getting close to finished.
Pictures of the end result are coming.
